reader submitted photos
These pics were sent in from a gentlemen (who didn't want his name reveled, don't want to give up that spot where he hunts) who reads the blog. Some nice sparring pictures. Thank you for sending them in.

Beard time again.
It's that time of the year to grow a beard. With gun season just over a week away, I feel like I may have started too late this year, it's two weeks in and looking pretty full, but not as good as last year's model. I'm hoping for a little beard karma on Friday as the weather is supposed to be a lot better for bow hunting. I took Monday off, seeing as how Field and Stream said it was the best day of the year to hunt. I'll use any excuse to take a day off hunting. It was all for nothing. I got into my blind a half hour before sun rise and didn't leave till it was dark. Didn't see a single deer either, as it was way to warm out. Mid sixties doesn't make for good hunting weather, even during the rut. So I'll take a part of Friday off and see if mid forties and wet makes for better rut weather. I'm thinking it will.
I'll try posting the latest buck that was on the trail cam on Friday morning also. Just a little basket rack.
I'm toying with the idea of doing a hunting podcast too. Not sure yet, but maybe a couple saying how our bow hunting seasons went along with the gun season here in Wisconsin.
Thanks for checking out the blog, tell your friends.

Dad's buck.
My father, Ron, got this three pointer Saturday morning. He tagged him down in the riverbottoms where I shot my first deer with a bow, same tree. Earlier in the day he said he missed a small eight pointer, when his arrow hit a branch. That was early morning, this one came in after a lunch break, he shot the buck with his long bow, it walked away and circled back where he put another arrow through both lungs and it expired sixty yards away. Congrats, Dad.
Maybe we can get some pics of Andy's deer too, he is my brother and shot a ten pointer, if I'm not mistaken.

Tagged a doe 10/29/2010
I tagged my first deer of the season last Friday 10-29-2010. Two and a half year old doe. This is the only lone doe without a fawn that I've seen this year, and I told myself I am not going to shoot a doe anywhere near a fawn. Not that I ever have on purpose, but it happens and you feel like an ass afterwards. So she came in along the edge of the field and stopped fifteen yards out in front of my blind. I was close to giving up on blind hunting, as I prefer tree stand hunting, but they wouldn't come in to my tree line. So it worked out great and I'll keep everybody posted on whether or not I get a buck before gun season.
Below is another different buck that came across the trail cam, would've been a nice wide 8 if both antlers were there. Thanks for checking out the blog, check back often for more updates.
